What do I name The Cat?

Can I ask you for some help? As I work on my cozy mystery series, The Sunset Lake Resort Mysteries, I realize that I need a much better name for The Cat.

He appears in the main character’s life the day she arrives at her new lake house and moves in with her, whether she wants to adopt him or not. You know how the Cat Distribution System works, right? The cat finds you, chooses you, and that’s it. You go buy the necessaries and work out a schedule of when the cat needs kibble, pets, and plays. The Cat OWNS you. They stare at you with a look that says, “My patience for you, Human, is not endless.”

These are the best of the many pics I saved to my Pinterest board for this beastie. I hope they will inspire you to dig deep and find me the name.

The Cat in my series is special. He seems to see the same ghost that the main character sees, her dead husband, but the little beast is calm about it. Like he knows something we don’t know. Maybe he’s on a mission here, maybe he just likes the vibes around the lake house and out on the pier. But he needs a better name than “The Cat”. I have tried a few: Shakespeare, Tinker, Buffy, and more. None fit.

Please. Help! Reply on my webpage or on my FB page and let’s see if we can finally get a decent name for the beast so he will stop staring at me as if he is about to erase my files or something equally terrifying to a writer.

Then go give our latest book, Aztalan’s Idol, The Harrogate Chronicles Book 3, that I wrote with my best friend, Nan Sampson, a quick review on Amazon or Goodreads! Thank you! For that matter, Books 1 and 2 could all use some love, too!

Next post I’ll talk about a wonderful series my writing group devoured whole! We discovered a new cozy series world and find it funny how we all like slightly different books, but these we all took to heart. The author has given me permission to share them with you. I would include them here, but I took this trip to Utah for a family thing, and it wiped me out. The rest this past week has done me some good, but it means I didn’t write the newsletter I intended.

I also hope to have some good news next time about other books from our writing group. So, lots of fun if you like cozy fantasy or murder mysteries. 🙂

Remember, Cat names and reviews needed! Get to it!

Happy Reading!
